Our Accommodations

We have a small but pleasant guest apartment with two bedrooms, a common-room, kitchen, and bathroom. Both men and women are welcome. Guests are normally assigned one of the bedrooms and share the other facilities. Both bedrooms contain double beds (couples are welcome). Local telephone service is provided.

The kitchen contains stove, refrigerator, and cooking utensils. Guests normally prepare meals for themselves, though coffee and tea are provided. The Priory is within easy walking distance of several grocery stores. If you wish to share the evening meal with the monastic community, please speak to the Guest Master.

Guests are invited to join the monastic community in celebrating the Eucharist or Divine Office, but are under no obligation to do so.

Suggested Donation

We normally suggest a donation of $60 a night for each individual. If this is more than you can afford, please contact the Guestmaster and we will try to make an adjustment. Refunds are at the discretion of the Guestmaster.

To Make a Reservation

We are able to accept guests only by prior reservation. To make a reservation telephone the Priory at (510) 548-3406 and ask to speak to the Guestmaster. He will tell you whether space is available, and write your reservation in our Guest Register.

Making a Retreat

We are happy to provide space for individuals who wish to make a retreat, or just "get away from it all" for a time. Since we are in the midst of a city, we can't offer the absolute silence of a rural monastery, but we can offer peace, quiet, and a safe place to reflect, pray, or worship. You may do this entirely on your own if you wish, or you may ask one of the members of the monastic community to spend some time with you. In either case, if you do plan to spend some part of your stay in retreat, please let the Guestmaster know when you make your reservation.
